Integration of Electricity Markets in Europe. Expert Discussion with ACER Director
How the process of electricity markets integration should be conducted? This was discussed by participants at a roundtable held on May 6 at the headquarters of Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczne in Konstancin-Jeziorna.

The discussion was attended by representatives of the Polish and European central administration, including the Agency for Cooperation of Energy Regulators, the Ministry of Climate and Environment, and the Energy Regulatory Office, as well as think-tanks: ClientEarth, Forum Energii, Instrat Foundation, Regulatory Assistance Project, and the Jagiellonian Institute.

Participants discussed the most important trends affecting the functioning of the common European energy market, including in particular the dynamic development of renewable energy sources, the decline in the capacity of dispatchable sources, and the need to ensure flexibility. Among the key challenges mentioned were the need for closer cooperation between transmission and distribution system operators, the opening of the common European market for system services, and the effective use of the existing generation and transmission infrastructure.
