Information on possible emergency situation in the Polish power system for the period 24-28 July, 2006
24 July 2006, 00:00
High level of demand on the reactive and active power remains unchanged. Due to lack of sufficient amount of cooling water or/and exceeded water temperature levels the generating capacities of some power plants systematically decrease. As this situation concerns mainly the power plants located in the central and northern part of Poland, the loadings of some transmission lines reach the acceptable limits what in turn cause the necessity of generation decrease in power plants located outside the mentioned region.
Current weather forecasts indicate possibilities for further deterioration of operational conditions in the Polish power system for the period between July 24th and 28th.
Taking all the above into account PSE-Operator announces that between July 24th and 28th it is possible that the alert state in the Polish power system may occur.
The violations of reliability standards including the ones related to the operation within UCTE synchronous interconnected systems and quality criteria of electricity deliveries may take place.
For these reasons PSE-Operator has undertaken following actions:
- Called-up all generating units usually non-dispatchable by TSO.
- Curtailed the transmission capacities allocated in monthly auction for July in export direction for the period between July 25th and 28th.
- Curtailed the transmission capacities allocated in yearly auctions for 2006 in export direction for the period between July 26th and 28th.
PSE-Operator does not exclude taking further actions in order to assure safe operation of Polish power system.
