The involved TSOs (covering an area with 170 million European citizens) agreed to start up a \"TSO System Security Cooperation\" with the aim to build up a permanent TSO Security Panel (group of security experts) and a common IT platform for data exchange and performing common security assessments. This will help to better manage the growing operational needs with special regard to the integration of wind energy, increasing cross-border trading and increasing electricity transport. The tool will provide every participating TSO with assessment results and enable them to perform advanced studies for the identification of remedial actions. It will be used within the day to day regional operational planning process of the TSOs and starting with day-ahead processes in a second step dealing with system operation near to real time. Mavir, the Hungarian TSO, already announced its interest to join the \"TSO System Security Cooperation\" in early 2009.
The initiative shall support a high level of system security in the heart of Europe. The common IT platform will be realised in a joint project in 2009.
This agreement is another concrete and important outcome of the close cooperation between TSOs. This regional coordination fosters security of supply in the concerned countries and in whole Europe. It is perfectly complementary to other European cooperation initiatives and cooperation centres enhancing system security. The \"TSO System Security Cooperation\" is an important step in order to ensure the overall system security of the entire European network and will be open to other TSO or Security Service Centres.
